We started Penroe and King in Bristol to create kitchen and furniture design projects that we'd want to see in our own homes. We're design-led and detail focused, and believe that sticking to these principles creates pieces that stand the test of time. This way of working informs everything from the materials we use to the processes we follow.
Our unique kitchen and furniture designs aim to enhance the way people use their homes. From initial concepts to consulting on materials and finishes, collaboration is key. We encourage clients to work closely with us through the design and pre-production process. We've found this is the most efficient and enjoyable way to produce the unique kitchens and fitted furniture we're known for.
We pride ourselves on offering a complete service from concept to installation. This way, we can design each aspect as a whole and maintain high standards through every detail of the work. Where possible, everything from the foundations to the finishing details of each kitchen and furniture design project is handmade in our Bristol workshop.
Our Process
-
Each project begins with a conversation with you (client or interior designer) about your kitchen or furniture design project. It's never too early to get in touch - the earlier the better. We'll work with you to develop and expand your ideas, which we've found is a sure way to help your project achieve its full potential.
Then we will meet for a no-obligation, free design briefing, usually over the phone but sometimes on your project site. Here we gather more information, details and specifications to help us develop a concept design and give you an initial cost.
-
We take all the information we have gathered from you to create a concept design. We'll provide drawings and a range of suitable material and colour options and their costs.
Once you're happy with a design we raise a small (10%) invoice to secure your slot in our workshop diary and create and refine a technical design. We'll arrange a site visit to take measurements for the technical drawing we use in production.
This visit is also an opportunity to look at samples and colours, though you're also welcome to visit our workshop and studio by appointment. Here you can meet the team and browse our large collection of samples and swatches. Once the technical design is signed off, we’ll raise a second invoice (40%).
-
A few weeks before our scheduled start date on your project, you'll be put in touch with your project leader (Murray or Sam). They will be your point of contact through the production process.
They'll also arrange a final site meeting to double check measurements and specifications. At this meeting you can also discuss any technical or logistical aspects ahead of the build and/or installation.
-
We will get to work manufacturing your project in our workshop where we’ll bring the design to life. We build all of our projects in our workshop to ensure there are no surprises when we come to deliver and install on-site. At this stage, we encourage you to visit for an inspection of the build before we install. Once you’re happy, we’ll raise a third invoice (40%) and set a delivery date.
We'll then deliver and install on-site, making sure you're completely satisfied and acquainted with your new kitchen or furniture. A final invoice will cover the last 10% of the project and any extras. All of the cabinetry and furniture we manufacture is covered by our 10 year warranty.
